old people

Old people

Head like a turnip

Long time you been going
Remember the good times
Tell us where you been
Show us how was done
Back before cars and lights
Fishing with a stick and a string
Help us see where you been
Take out your teeth and grin
You not have to work now...
All tired out creaky and weak
Hear with tiny speakers in your ears
See with tired eyes.

Old People
What do you know now?
Close your eyes, run and jump
Feel your first kiss
First love, first heart break
See the day I was born
Nothing but a pants wetter
Me then, you now
Old and happy as a little kid
Old people
Forget the bad
Close your eyes and fly away
Sing with the angles
We are too young to care today.

The Neophyte's Plight

There comes a space, inside of silence
Where opens there a moment
Just inside of one heart beat
A wink, a smile, a glance

While faster than a beam of light
This dwells like an aroma
Both know when it sweeps in
Afloat on billowed night

Why hadn't you seen it sooner
You laugh at such as you
As quickly as it came about
Now all at once it's through

Then crash and burn, your heart mid flight
How could you show such guile
With nuance as your hearts desire
Greet the plight of the neophyte

Yet pause, reflect, and smile

A Dying Rose

There,
Among the petals of a dying Rose
A healing force gives presence
To a thought

Still,
Atop a frozen hill
Warming sun breaks into crystal ice
And a drop of life appears

Look,
While the delicate whisker of a mouse
Passes over one fine seed
And life remains

Why,
When all the World is in
A heralded struggle to continue
Must we destroy?

Surely,
Good, will touch and sustain a heart
That yesterday melted, to drop life
Onto one tiny Rose seed
